A short film based on Franz Kafka's story "A Dream".
Synopsis
---------
Jack Webb is at a wake, the mood of the event causes Jack to reflect upon his own mortality and he has a conversation with himself (appearing as his younger self) in the bathroom mirror before being disturbed by someone. He goes down the stairs and meets his wife Deirdre on the way who is carrying flowers and goes upstairs to look for a vase. As Jack moves around the house he hears people talking about someone. He then hears his son, James and fiancee, Rachel having a row about him and attempt to leave the house. Mark follows James and when he gets into the hallway, he sees James and Deirdre embracing and talking in a melancholy and epochful way which begins to worry him. He sees the card on the flowers which says “Our deepest condolences” and begins to fear the worst. He steadies himself as James breaks from his mother and attempts to leave, Jack pulls himself up and attempts to chase James and upon exiting the house finds himself at the foot of his own grave. He breaks down at having his worst fear realised and the film concludes with Jack awaking from his nightmare.

Jack Webb
Males, aged 60 to 70 from the United Kingdom
67, Silver haired, white male in the twilight years of his life. He had aspirations of being a novelist but ended up working for a local newspaper for most of his life before being unceremoniously retired. He has taken to reviewing his life thus far in an attempt to console himself of his own mortality. His delusions of grandeur leave him feeling like he’s failed to achieve anything of significance in his life and his reflections on his life do little to calm his fears about the afterlife.

Deirdre Webb
Females, aged 55 to 67 from the United Kingdom
65 year old, wife of Jack. Childhood sweethearts and very happy with her life as she views her life achievements in terms of the family and home she has created. She worked as a schoolteacher since her 20s and enjoyed her job. She has just retired and is looking to the future.

James Webb
Males, aged 28 to 35 from the United Kingdom
32, Son of Jack and Deidre. He works as a pro-bono lawyer dealing with issues of families and children. Although he is successful, he makes less money than his fiancee Rachel and his easy going nature makes him go along with Rachel rather than argue. Only child of Jack and Deidre is close with his mother but he has a frosty relationship with his father. Their relationship is complicated & it can be difficult for outsiders to perceive any real warmth between them, particularly Rachel.

Rachel
Females, aged 25 to 30 from the United Kingdom
29 year old, fiancee to James Webb. Is a journalist and is successful, powerful and opinionated. She has a frosty relationship with James’ father due to her perceived view that Jack is callous, bitter and stingy. She believes Jack doesn't like her as he was cold to her when they were introduced. On the contrary, Jack is pleased with James and Rachel’s success and engagement, but their prosperity and youth serves only to highlight Jack’s own perceived failings.
